GoodRx Gold Membership Was Launched

In our articles related to cost savings we mentioned GoodRx website several times. With the help of GoodRx people are able to save up to 80% on their prescribed medications. The price with the coupon depends on the location, medication, and the pharmacy where the prescription should be filled.

The use of the discount codes is still free and people are welcome to use https://www.goodrx.com/ in order to check the price for specific prescription drugs in their local pharmacy and decide whether they need to use a discount code, change the pharmacy, or use an alternate medication depending on the price.

For even more convenience, the option of choosing either generic or brand version of medication was presented on the website as well as sending the code to the user’s phone via text message.

GoodRx Gold

On May 20 we received an email where the co-founder of GoodRx Doug Hirsch stated that the Gold membership of GoodRx was launched.

According to the email letter, prices with GoodRx Gold are up to 50% less than GoodRx. Also, our prescription discount card gives up to 80% discount for prescriptions too. But it is always better to compare different discount cards to get the best price now in your pharmacy.

Prices with coupons are taken from GoodRx.com for Safeway pharmacies, which located in Washington D.C. and valid as of May 23, 2017. Please note that those prices are estimated. Prices depend on pharmacy and area, so it is possible to find even lower prices for prescribed medications.

In some cases, the price with a regular GoodRx is lower than with Gold membership. In this case the user of GoodRx Gold will see the notification that will inform about the cheaper option available:

GoodRx-GoldIf customers are not sure if Gold worth it, they can simply check the prices on GoodRx Gold website and will be informed if a use of the free site is the best option.

Pros and cons

The cost of GoodRx Gold is $9.99 per month. GoodRx Gold website states that membership is effective for individuals or families with two or more prescriptions and with more prescriptions their customers save more.

GoodRx Gold membership covers six family members (including pets) and cannot be used along with the insurance policy. However, the discount prices are so low that can beat the copay amount, stated on the website.

Unfortunately, not every local large pharmacy chain is participating with Gold. Walmart, Walgreens, Target (CVS), SamsClub, and Publix will not accept GoodRx Gold card, but in most cases accept discount codes from GoodRx.

Kroger, Safeway, Vons, and Albertsons are the largest pharmacy chains among participants. For the full list of participating pharmacies please visit https://gold.goodrx.com/directory.

The best news for those people who would like to try the services is a free trial. During the first month of trial, customers can use the services for free, according to the website. Only after the month of use, they will pay $9.99 on monthly basis if they don’t cancel the membership.
