Zero-Hunger Program By Kroger Co.: The Future Changes

The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation now declared a $3 million pledge to immediately expand hunger-relief support to communities disproportionately affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Our most important mission is to be here for our clients when they need us most, and our store, warehouse, shipping, food product and office colleagues are working around the clock to keep our buildings open for our consumers,” stated Keith Dailey, Kroger’s group vice chairman of corporate events. “We’re also careful that the coronavirus pandemic may appear in more of our neighbors fighting with food instability during this challenging experience – and we want to support.

That is why The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation is charging $3 million, its most complete dedication to date, to rapidly deploy hunger-relief support to food-insecure neighborhoods across the country.”

The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation’s$3 million engagement will be evenly divided between the Foundation’s nonprofit allies, Feeding America, and No Kid Hungry. The funding will not only support local food banks nationwide but also fund initiatives that ensure kids, whose schools may be connected, still have entrance to nutritious meals.

“We acknowledge The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation’s assistance of Feeding America’s newly discovered COVID-19 Response Fund,” stated Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America. “Kroger’s assistance facilitates food banks to obtain the resources they need to serve the most defenseless members of our communities during this difficult time.”

“Nearly 22 million children rely on the refreshments they receive at school,” stated Tom Nelson, administrator, and CEO of Share Our Strength, the company behind the No Kid Hungry operations. “In partnership with The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation, No Kid Hungry is actively promoting crisis grants to food banks and charitable institutions in the hardest-hit communities, supporting families know how to find meals while schools are connected and guaranteeing every child has entrance to three meals a day.”

Kroger and its subsidiaries also advance to donate food and funds to local food banks and hunger-relief efforts.

The Kroger Family of Companies is performing it easy for consumers to support The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation’s mission to create societies free of hunger and waste by willing to round up their properties to the most imminent dollar at every self-checkout lane in America or give at ZeroHungerZeroWasteFoundation.org.

Kroger and its subsidiaries are also advocating through giving to local hunger-relief groups.
