Walgreens has announced the company had lowered rates on hundreds of medications available through the company’s Prescription Savings Club, allowing savings of up to 80 percent off Walgreens drug prices.

The application is immediately accessible to all clients, including those with Medicare and Medicaid coverage. Discounted rates are available on a wide range of medicines used to manage common chronic diseases, such as diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, hypertension, mental health, and more.

“We know that times are tough for millions of Americans right now, and we want to stay to champion the health and well-being of everyone we work notwithstanding of their time,” stated Walgreens President Richard Ashworth.

“Decreasing the costs of medicines administered through the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club is one way we’re helping more people access affordable drugs and health care.”

The Walgreens Prescription Savings Club improvements build on the company’s attempts to advance to help patients in managing access to required medicines without interruption.

This comes at a time when the Department of Labor reported that more than 26 million people in the U.S. had claimed to stop in the last five weeks, changing health care coverage for many.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Walgreens has extended to cooperate with many stakeholders including health plan co-workers, doctors, and federal, state and local leaders to assure patients have access to the medicines they require, through services like 90-day refills, early refill support and waiving fees for one-to-two day delivery on qualified prescriptions.

Possible Savings

Anyone can join the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club for an annual fee of $20 per individual or $35 per family. Savings refer to more than 8,000 physicians and introduce one of the most comprehensive lists of value-priced generics free at $5, $10, and $15 price points.

Other highlights include:

  • Refunds on thousands of generic medications, defensive and lifestyle remedies that support may not cover
  • Refunds on pet medications
  • Savings on nebulizers and diabetic numbers
  • Refunds on Walgreens-brand results and immunizations administered at Walgreens
  • 10 percent bonus credit on qualified investments of Walgreens-branded items bought in store
